President's
Report
-
The postal non-profit rate was approved in
July and will coast $.22 per flyer to be mailed. WLA will
design it and post office does everything else. The first
year, we pay $150 up front and the $150 per year. We usually
do @ 12 mailings per year with 500 pieces. The initial
savings are $80 year one and then $250 after that.

and helpers to spread the word
-
Presentation on 2/14 about a book by Nipmuc
Indians at point Breeze – public invited
-
WLA encourages all members to attend town
meetings and get involved in town committees. If we are all
vigilant and active, we can assist with protecting our
watershed
-
Dick is working with legislature to suggest
that %50 of our excise taxes on boats automatically go for
sediment control as opposed to the general coffers as it
does now >
-
Uconn is studying the French River and how
to revitalize it, and connect it to Webster, the lake and
Oxford in the way of trails etc. The question is how to pay
for it. Willimantic White River Rafters received a $2
million grant to clean CT River. WLA could possible help
back the French River org. about this with people support.
Ken Parker spoke to thank the group for coming to the
presentation and hopes that we can be mutually supportive in
the future.
